Coordinator of Programs and Curriculum

We're seeking a creative, industrious and academically well-rounded individual to join our core team of full-time staff. Your work will make an impact on thousands of test-takers every year, many of whom will become K-12 teachers and continue using what they learned in their classrooms.

Position description: You'll personally write new curriculum in a variety of general academic subject areas, and you'll hire and manage part-time contractors who contribute curriculum in specialized areas, when needed. You'll monitor current info on all the exams we cover and make required updates to existing curriculum.

You'll be integrally involved in helping record our instructional videos, including running the camera (don't worry, it's easy), reviewing and cataloguing footage, and coaching onscreen teachers. For certain programs, which include story-based learning elements, you'll coordinate with our team of actors regarding scheduling and costumes.

In addition to your primary work in creating and updating curriculum, you will also help support our team of teachers, tutors and graders, providing them with class materials and answering their curriculum questions. When we occasionally hire new faculty members, you will assist in interviewing and training them, and you'll provide them with evaluations and feedback.

Since we are a small team, you'll also assist with a variety of other tasks from time to time, such as proofreading new webpages and reviewing student submissions to our annual scholarship competition. You should be comfortable both collaborating with others and working independently, with the ability to plan large projects and prioritize tasks.

Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9am-6pm.

Location: Like many businesses, we went fully remote during the pandemic, but are now in the process of gradually transitioning back. Currently, you will work as required at our video production location in the Pasadena area, typically 2-3 days per week, and you will work from home all other days. However, please be aware that, in the future, we may return to a fully office-based work schedule.

Starting compensation: $60,000-$70,000 per year base salary (depending on experience), plus year-end bonus.

Benefits: Health, dental and IRA (retirement account with employer matching contributions).

Minimum qualifications: A bachelor's degree and at least two years experience teaching, tutoring and/or writing curriculum are required for this role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, including the ability to analyze and closely replicate test question styles and the ability to write instructional slideshow content that is engaging and effective. The ideal candidate for this role will be a bit of a polymath, with strong K-12 level content knowledge across all the basic academic fields (math, science, social studies, English, and the arts), as well as good research skills. Interpersonal, management and organizational skills are also essential.

Candidates advancing to the second round of interviews will be given a written test to demonstrate math and language skills, and will also be asked to create a short work sample based on an assignment we provide.

Preferred qualifications: Graduate degree. Distinguished academic record and high test scores on exams such as the SAT or GRE. Video production skills are a bonus, but not required.

To apply, please complete our Online Application. (The application period for this position is now closed. We are currently conducting interviews.)
