California educators planning to teach mathematics at the secondary school level typically must pass the CSET Foundational-Level Mathematics exam. CSET Foundational-Level Math consists of two subtests. Each CSET Mathematics subtest may be taken and passed separately.
Subtest 1 covers Number and Quantity, and Algebra.
Subtest 2 covers Geometry, and Probability and Statistics.
Both subtests consist of both multiple-choice and constructed-response questions. A graphing calculator will be allowed for Subtest 2 only. Examinees must bring an approved graphing calculator to the test administration.
